Niche – The 5 Step Method To Picking Your Niche

When wanting to do affiliate marketing to make money online, or if you want to start a business, you need to pick a niche. A niche is a smaller part of a market. It needs to be profitable if you want to be successful.

I have outlined 5 questions you need to answer to pick the niche that would work for you.

1. What Are Your Interests And Passions?

This is something that should come easy to you. Write down on a piece of paper things you have a passion for. Things that you love to do. This could be Golfing, Fishing, Hunting, Hiking, Baseball, Football, Health and Wellness, Weight Loss, Financial Investing, Marketing. The list can be huge and there are tons of profitable niches.

The idea is if you can pick something you have a passion for you will be more likely to stay with it till it becomes successful. If you don’t have much interest in it and are only doing it to make money, you should not leave your day job.

The idea would be to do something you love. Write these things on a piece of paper. Give enough space to continue writing more info.

2. What Do You Know The Most About?

Some people think this is not that important, I do. Under your passions, outline things you know about those passions. I think you might surprise yourself. Some things you thought you knew nothing about you know tons, and others you thought you knew everything about well, not so much.

The idea here is to find the things that you know most about as top candidates. You will be able to move faster with these categories. This will help you to earn faster.

3. Discover The Profitability?

Some people think that by getting into a niche nobody is working is going to make you the most money. We’re taught the less competition, the more money you can make. This could be true, but most likely nobody is working those angles because there’s no money in it. So a saturated market is probably the best place to look. Don’t reinvent the wheel.

For instance, I love history. I think history is one of the most important thing in our world and isn’t taught that much in school. Don’t believe me, ask a high school kid about WWII.

Education is a great niche. However history is not a big money maker. You could write a blog and write down facts of history and it might make you some money with ads. I would say there would need to be a ton or research and the time vs. money issue is not worth it.

The best way is to find out how you can make money with a niche, is to think of items that would be worth selling. Things you can make good money from. I love to talk about pets for instance. I love animals and have dogs and cats and a chinchilla. I would fill my house with animals if I could afford the keep and the time it takes to properly care for them.

That’s a niche. Now, how can I make money from this niche? Well Amazon sells pet stuff and has an affiliate program. People are very passionate about their pets. There are tons of educational products on ClickBank, Warrior Plus and JVZoo you can offer up. Training courses offer great compensation to sell them.

The Best way to keep involved with on online business is to have a passion for what your selling. You also need to know a lot about what your selling. If you have those 2 things going for you, the chance of failure is minimal.

4. How Can I Sell These Products?

So now there are ways to find out if you can make money in this niche. How can I sell the stuff? This becomes a bigger issue. Do I blog? Do I email market? Do I make an eCommerce Website? Do I create sales funnels? There are tons of ways to sell these products. There’s also drop-ship, or just buy products, inventory them and sell them. That way is very expensive and you have to have deep pockets to start inventory.

You have to find a way to sell stuff that you feel you can do. You probably can sell stuff most ways, the problem is what way is best for you. Some take time to develop. Blogging is around 6 months before you start making anything substantial. You can sell most anything on a blog specific to your niche. Email marketing can be very lucrative for educational products so can blogs. eCommerce, Drop-shipping and Funnels are good for physical products.

5. Test, Test Then Test Again

You need to make the most out of your efforts. Testing sales strategies is very important. You want to make the most out of your efforts. Once you find the best way to sell things you will be able to duplicate your efforts.

Get Your Company Noticed

If you want to make a lot of money, You need to help a lot of people!

This is one of my favorite quotes. I don’t know who said it, but since I changed the way it was written, it could be my quote. Think about the words. This is a perfect philosiphy to stick by. When you sell something, if you are actually helping the buyer, they will refere you to otheres. If you’re hurting someone, you will get that in a negative manor.
